The First Appointment Many people are nervous before they come to their first appointment. However, many report feeling better even after that first appointment, as they are beginning to take action. This first session is a chance for you to have questions answered and become comfortable with me in a safe, confidential environment. I welcome any concerns that you might have at that session or as they arise.
During the first appointment there will be certain information we will exchange. There are required forms that you will need to fill out. I can email these to you after you have scheduled your appointment, or you can come 15 to 20 minutes early to the appointment to fill them out. Some of these forms I am required to have on file by law, and they help me make sure that I am doing the things that make for good therapy.
How Long Will This Take? Individual appointments usually are for 50 minutes. The frequency is determined by your needs.
While I cannot provide you with a guarantee of exactly how many sessions it will take to resolve your concerns, this is something that we both determine as we go along. Sometimes other issues emerge which a person decides to turn their attention to. Other times therapy can be very brief. Setting achievable goals together and consistently measuring progress will allow us both to remain aware of where we are in the process. Together we can determine the best path for you.
